After Mark and Serena had finished with cleaning up the apartment, Mark had a good idea of how is daughter was like. It made him feel more than a bit irked that it took him so long just to find her. Especially knowing that all this time she had been living with his inconsiderate elder brother. That night Mark had made dinner for the both of them-he wanted to show Serena that he could take care of her better than his brother did.
While they had dinner that night Mark could tell that something was on Serena's mind. "You look like you want to say something Serena, what's on your mind?"
"It's just that...if I live here Ciel isn't going to have anyone around his age to be around. I was the one who found him and he latched onto me rather quickly. The others brush him off as if he's nothing just like they did to me when I first came into that family. I don't want him to be neglected. He can't do anything on his own. Where he came from he was a high class aristocrat who had a butler who did everything for him." Serena explained
"Ahn...I see where you have space to worry. They really aren't that compassionate towards people are they?" Mark asked
She shook her head no. "I'm worried that he'll have a nightmare that detatches himself from where he lives and he won't have anyone to calm him down." Serena explained
Mark raised an eyebrow at his daughter. "You really care a lot about this kid don't you?"
Serena let out a small sigh before she rubbed her right arm nervously. "I need to be honest with you papa, the reason Ciel is here is because Justina didn't think that I had what it took to tell Ciel how I felt about the guy. Cause her and I were watching that anime and well-she told me that she could bring Ciel here and I can confess my feelings to the guy to see how he feels about me. I honestly thought that she was just joking around. Especially since Uncle Noah specifically told us not to do anything without him knowing. So...So the reason Ciel is even here is singly because of me."
"You really feel responsible for the guy don't you?" Mark asked
She nodded her head quickly. "I don't want him to feel like he is going to be completely alone there."
Mark hummed out in thought before he grabbed his phone. "Let me call my brother and talk to him about this situation. If you're the only one who knows how to deal with that kid it's only natural that you'd want to make sure he's alright."
Serena's eyes lit up. "Thank you papa!" She said happily
Serena ate her dinner as Mark called up Noah, who answered quickly. "Hey Mark, how are things with Serena?" Noah asked
"Fine for the most part. Say listen-Serena has made mention to me about her concern about Ciel the kid that was transported into this * hole of a world. You guys have been treating him right haven't you?" Mark asked
Noah was quiet, which spoke volumes to Mark as he sighed out. "That's what she was worried about. Listen after Serena's birthday I am taking custody of both her and Ciel. It's obvious that you can't even take care of one more kid in that house."
Noah sighed out. "Alright sure, you two are coming here for her birthday right?"
"Of course, She needs to get the rest of her things from there anyways."
"I had specifically gotten a queen size bed for her, did you want that to be placed in your apartment as well?"
"Yeah we can make it work."
"Alright then. I can talk to the people who I got it from about it tomorrow."
"After having dinner with Serena, I'm going over there to get the kid."
"That's fine, I'll make sure he knows."
The two of them hung up and mark looked at Serena. "Looks like you had every reason to be worried about the kid."
"We're going to get ciel after dinner?"
"Yes, it's obvious they can't even do something like take care of that damn kid."
Serena nodded her head. "Alright. Thank you papa."
"Of course. Now I gotta ask. Why do you call me 'papa' so easily but you kept calling Noah 'Father'?"
"Because ever since knowing you as my 'uncle' I felt closer to you as a father figure than him. Sure he adopted me but he never made me feel like I was a part of his family. I always felt like an outsider. Even when I was considered your niece you treated me a lot nicer than he had." Serena explained
"Ahn...Gotcha."
After they finished eating, they left out to get Ciel. When they got to the house Serena went in to find Ciel only to see that he was struggling with getting his pajamas off. She let out a small sigh and helped him get his shirt off of him. "You really are hopeless Ciel." She stated shaking her head
"I was told I was leaving here to live with you and your father."
"You are, let's get you dressed and pack your things for the night." Serena said with a nod of her head before she helped him get dressed in different clothes.
Afterwards the two of them went downstairs and Mark shook his head. "You had to help the kid didn't you Serena?"
Serena nodded her head. "Yeah, he was struggling to get out of his pajama's."
"I knew you told me he was hopeless on his own-but I didn't think he'd be that hopeless. Let's get back home Serena." Mark stated
"Sure thing papa!" Serena said happily "Let's go Ciel!"
Ciel left out with Serena and her father, the drive there Mark asked Ciel questions about himself which he was more than happy to answer him before they got to the small apartment. Once they got inside of the apartment Mark pulled out the cusions to the couch making it into a futon before he placed a few small pillows and blankets on the futon.
"The two of you will be sleeping here for the night until the bed that you two were on before comes here." Mark stated
"How...How'd you know we slept on the same bed?" Ciel asked shocked
"Noah told me." Mark stated
"Noah?' Ciel asked
"The adult that was known as my adoptive father. His name is Noah." Serena explained
"Ooohh."
Mark face palmed himself. "Goodness me, did that moron seriously not introduce himself?"
Serena shook her head. "None of them introduced themselves to Ciel, he had to guess names by people talking."
"Serena was the only one who introduced herself to me." Ciel explained
"Well that just shows just how different she is compared to those *s. But as I was saying, Noah-my eldest brother told me about the fact that you two were sharing a queen size bed together. I would have been against it had it not been for Serena telling me that you would be having nightmares that would detach yourself from your world." Mark stated
"What will happen after the nightmares are over with?" Ciel asked
"We'll see how things go between the two of you. As of now I am going place a little bit of trust within you to take care of my daughter." Mark stated seriously
Ciel nodded his head. "Of course."
"Now it's getting late, so the two of you need to get some sleep." Mark said seriously
Serena nodded her head. "Okay papa!"
She took her bag to change into her pajamas before she went back into the living room to see that Ciel was in his own pajamas, he was sitting on the futon waiting for her. She crawled onto the futon and she lied down as he lied down beside her. The two of them fell asleep beside one another, only for Serena to wake up in the middle of the night to see that Ciel was sleeping peacefully. She let out a small sigh of relief before she placed the blanket over her as her father came into the check in on the two of them.
Mark went over to her and kissed the top of her head softly as he gave her a soft hug. "Sleep well Serena, I love you so much. I'm going to make sure from here on out your life is much better than it had been."
